What are the advantages of going to a big name school? Do you get paid more than other doctors who went to less reputable schools? I also want to know if it would be impossible to get into these schools if you took your pre med requirements at a community college.

I would guess that there is little correlation between going to a top name school for undergrad and med school relative to salary. There is a much bigger correlation between specialty and salary. Just because someone goes to a top name school, doesn't mean they will choose to go into a specialty that pays the most. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if people who go to the big name schools actually make less, since many of the big name schools turn out more researchers and academicians - which correlates to lower salary for the majority of people. I have no idea how any of this correlates to job and life satisfaction though.

I do know that the most competitive med schools probably would not accept someone who took their pre-med science classes at a community college, and may not take many people who don't go to a top tier undergrad college. I don't even know if you could get into any med school taking your pre-med classes at a community college, because I doubt the class is designed to be of pre-med intensity. This is just a guess on my part, and you should contact either a local med school or community college to see if they can give more info on this.
