I am majoring in radiation biology and I am trying to sort out what additional classes are necessary to continue on to medical school. From reading responces to other visitors I know that physics, biology, inorganic and organic chemistry as well as a couple others are required. I am taking a year of physics and general chemistry, but had only one semester of biology and one semester of cell biology. Other classes include anatomy and physiology, radiation physics, clinical dosimetry, clinical radiation, cross-sectional anatomy, radiation biology and a few others. Can any of these classes be considered as a substitute to any other required class? On top of what is required for my current major, should I also be taking additional classes? Thanks for any help you can provide.
I'm not sure if your biology courses would count towards your 1 year required biology, as it is my impression that the 1 year of biology needs to be general biology with lab. You'd want to talk with a counselor though to confirm that, as obviously you have taken a lot of biology coursework. It also looks like you need to take organic chemistry still.
The only potential other class you'd want to have taken is calculus, which isn't required but many medical schools recommend having taken it.
Otherwise, there really aren't any other classes I'd recommend you take before med school. Take the classes you want to take, which you won't get to take in medical school (non science courses, etc).
